Hello!

My name is Gio Coppola. I am a NYC based theatre maker who strives to bring truth and humanity to all of my work. I grew up in Andover, Massachusetts and have been involved in theatre from a very young age.

After graduating high school during a global pandemic, I moved to Philadelphia to pursue my BFA In Musical Theatre from The University of the Arts… which abruptly closed in 2024. So I moved to New York City to finish my BFA at Pace University.

Now that I’m out in the world, I want to get my name out there and tell stories that make people see something new in themselves. But don’t we all? As a trans actor, I actively seek out new trans and queer work - there is such little representation for us in the industry and I want my existence to show other trans actors and trans youth alike that they can take up space and be who they are. I refuse to let being trans be a barrier for me in this industry, but rather something that allows me to connect to material in a new and profound way.

When I’m not onstage, you can find me taking photos (check out giocoppolaphoto.com), trying out a new coffee shop, teaching theater to the next generation, or cooking some good Italian food.
